Dr. Cynthia Holmes

Associate Dean, Faculty & Academic, Associate Professor, Real Estate Management, Ted Rogers School of Business Management at Ryerson University


Dr. Cynthia Holmes is the Associate Dean, Faculty and Academic, at the Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University, responsible for the curriculum and academic quality for the 12,000 students in the undergraduate program. She is the founding Chair of the Real Estate Management Department at the school and teaches real estate management courses at the undergraduate and master’s level. Her research area is real estate finance and housing economics. Her work has been published in leading academic journals and she has consulted with government and other organizations on issues related to residential and commercial mortgages. She has a BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science from McGill University, an MBA with a specialization in Finance from Concordia University, and a PhD in Urban Land Economics from the University of British Columbia. Prior to joining Ryerson, she held academic positions at the Schulich School of Business at York University and at Florida State University. She has ten years of industry experience with Standard Life Assurance Company, including several years in the Mortgage Investment department. Dr. Holmes holds the Institute of Corporate Directors designation and is a member of the Board of Management of the Toronto Zoo. She has performed a wide set of media appearances and speaking engagements as a Canadian housing market expert.
