John Andrew, Ph.D.

John has been Executive Director of Queen’s University’s Commercial Real Estate Executive Seminars since its creation in 2004. Since 2000 he has also been a professor in the Queen’s School of Urban and Regional Planning (part of the Department of Geography and Planning since 2016), where he teaches commercial real estate courses to graduate students. He has also taught commercial real estate in the Queen’s University’s Smith School of Business since 2009.

John consults to the commercial real estate sector, primarily on strategic planning, financial analysis, environmental issues and conflict resolution; and has served as an expert witness in real estate commercial litigation cases and urban planning tribunal hearings. He is a frequent speaker and national media commentator on a broad range of real estate issues.

John’s research is directly applicable to the commercial real estate sector, and has included such wide-ranging topics as financial feasibility analysis, environmental issues in buildings and land, conflict management, real estate decision-making and investment strategy.

John holds a Ph.D. and Master of Science in Planning from the University of Toronto, and a Bachelor of Science from Western University. He holds a Canadian Private Pilot License with an Instrument Rating, has been an active pilot for 32 years and is a Volunteer Pilot with Hope Air, flying distant patients in financial need to medical appointments at major treatment centres, in his own plane.
